Pranayama Sadhana

MAY 1—28TH, 2019 | QUALICUM

Dedicated to aspiring students, we are very pleased to offer our 500-hour pranayama teacher training program. For over a decade, we've reserved ourselves in providing any formal training on pranayama, in respects to upholding its ageless tradition. By opening our doors to only a small, select group of students per training, it is our goal to provide you with the most inclusive experience possible. With your growth, health, and personal transformation being of the utmost importance to us, this teacher training program will truly change your life, providing you with valuable tools that'll help to assist in your development as a knowledgeable practitioner and responsible teacher of pranayama.

may 1—28TH, 2019

Pranayama is the ancient rishi path of liberation, which expounds the process of perfect awakening through the insistence that the mind is where all things begin and end. And that by learning to conquer the mind, one can see and know the source and reality of this world and how it arises, and how to live in perfect equanimity with it. In this month-long teacher training program, students will have the unique opportunity to explore the original teachings of the rishis in a way that is practical and supportive, enabling a personalized, transformational experience. Just as a bird uses both wings to fly through the air, likewise, in this training students will learn how soar through the skies of liberation by correctly balancing their use of both knowledge and action. Whether you plan on teaching, developing your own practice, or refining your comprehensive knowledge of yoga, this teacher training program will provide you with all the tools you need in developing as a strong, self-empowered individual, so that you can properly, safely, responsibly, and skillfully share the teachings of pranayama with confidence.

MORNING SADHANA — 11:30am-1:30pm: Every morning will begin with a two-hour practice. The intention of morning sadhana, is for students to experience the traditional rishi practice of tapasya, which is the most effective way to generate the necessary inner-fire to burn away one’s latent karmas, open their mental channels, and clean out the physical body so that the flow of life can move about more freely.

AFTERNOON BREAK — 1:30pm-2:00pm: After morning sadhana, students will have a little break to journal, eat, and relax. It is advised students bring lunches and proper hydration for the day.

PRACTICE OVERVIEW — 2:00pm-3:00pm: After a short break, our afternoons together will begin with an integrative discussion on how daily project assignments, course requirements, and home practices are going, followed by an informative and clinical overview of your morning sadhana in the studio.

TEACHING PRACTICUMS — 3:00pm-3:30pm: After our discussion, students will begin their 1-on-1, 1-on-2, and 1-on-3 teaching practicums, in which they'll be pairing up with each other. These practice teaching practicums are rewarding resources that will assist in developing your personal confidence, which will not only radically affect your teaching abilities, but will also instil greater integrity in how you direct and guide yourself through your own personal practice.

SATSANG — 3:30pm-5:00pm: Practicums will then be followed by our afternoon satsang, which are inspiring talks that engage students into enlightening discussions related to seeing and knowing the source and reality of this world and how it arises, and how to live in perfect equanimity with it.

EVENING SADHANA — 5:00pm-5:30pm: To finish off the day, students will be led through one last 30 minute practice. These practices are designed to mimic each students home practice, but in a format that is guided. The intent of these 30 minute practices is to help assist and correct any challenges, all while revealing just how strong and rewarding a 30 minute practice can be.

"Breathing is the thread that weaves together the fabric of the mind, and the One true source which influences the rise of Life in the body." In week one, students will be closely examining the fundamentals of breathing, as they document and study the quality and capacity of their current respiratory state. Through simple exercises, students will learn how to correct their breathing, as well as teachings that will reveal how their breath is intimately connected to all bodily functions and the essential, primary source that influences and sustains the rise of life in the body. Starting in week one, students will also be pairing up as they begin their 1-on-1 teaching practicums.

"The most perfect self-control is to obtain control over how the mind observes, comprehends, and responds to the informational stimulus of the senses." In week two, students will be learning how to refine and perfect the use of their experiential capacities through the instillment of vitality-management practices. These teachings will employ proper use in learning how to measure the percentage of vitality in the body, as well as determine where and how vitality is leaking from the body. The ultimate goal of week two is for students to become incredibly refined and heightened in how they directly experience their inward & outward environment through the proper retainment of life-energy and the sustainable use of it.

"Learning is the unspoken admittance of not knowing. Not knowing is the wellspring of real knowledge. And real knowledge is wisdom which ends all multiplicities." In week three, students will be closely examining the fundamentals of how learning actually occurs, so that they can refine and strategically enhance their capacity to personally develop and perpetually evolve their physiological, psychological, and spiritual state. Through the employment of proper exercises and teachings, students will personally experience the secretive wellspring of pranic knowledge and learn why it's considered as the highest, most purest, most intimate form of education.

"Actions are driven by the influence of the senses. But if at any time the mind is unsteadied, our actions will be bound by impulse." In week four, students will be learning about the nature of action and how to refine and perfect the use of their expressive capacities, enhancing how they communicate, move, and sustainably occupy the life-energy that goes into personality-embodiment. A large focus in week four will also be centred around exploring crucial teaching components on how to responsibly present and communicate the fundamentals of pranayama through philosophy, practice, and personal support... with intent on making the teachings accessible to all levels and age groups.
