Pranayama Sadhana

MAY 1—28TH, 2019 | QUALICUM

Dedicated to all who seek personal libration, we are honoured to host the worlds only pranayama teacher training program. Reflecting over two decades of personal experience, Engel has designed the curriculum of this training to operate over the course of twenty-eight days, as it centres around evolving the mind through the proper use and methodology of thought and action, practitioner and character development, and teaching ethics. The reason for this is that everything begins and ends in the mind. And only by cultivating the proper use of the mind, can we bring about a newness life.

may 1—28TH, 2019

If you’ve been looking to open your mind to new ways of seeing, thinking, and living that dramatically improves your life — then this teacher training is definitely for you. Providing you with all the necessary tools to develop as a knowledgeable practitioner and responsible teacher, our goal is for students to become successful at everything they put their minds too. Thus, this is not just a course of valuable, instructive strategies for respiratory and mental development, but equally a process of learning how to strategize and decide on your life-purpose, your duties, your work ethic, and characteristics. Because when you can establish greater control over the use of your mind, your breath, your body, the way you think, your 24/hour day, and your entire life trajectory... the wealth of transformation becomes less obscure, and more enticing, accessible, and fun.

CURRICULUM: This twenty-eight day training presents the original teachings of pranayama through the ageless methodology of Satsang and Sadhana. Satsang is a process of interactive discussion, where enlightening conversations play out over various topics concerning personal liberation. Think of satsang as an outer-light that arouses your inner-personal intelligence with personal motivation and self-initiation. Sadhana is an efficient, effective, and sustainable method of self-effort, that intelligently breaks one’s character out self-imposed limitations with the intent of building the necessary mental aptitude to see oneself and the nature of reality as it truly is.

So whether you plan on becoming a teacher, developing your own personal practice, or refining your comprehensive knowledge of personal liberation — this teacher training program will provide you with all the tools you need in developing as a strong, self-empowered individual, educator, and/or leader, so that you can properly, safely, responsibly, and skillfully help this world, yourself, and others with confidence.

MORNING SADHANA — 11:30am-1:30pm: Every morning will begin with a two-hour practice. The intention of morning sadhana, is for students to experience an extended length of practice that releases obstructions in the body and opens ones mental channels, so that Life can be better understood and can be more easily identified with.

AFTERNOON BREAK — 1:30pm-2:00pm: After morning sadhana, students will have a little break to journal, eat, and relax. It is advised students bring lunches and proper hydration for the day.

PRACTICE OVERVIEW — 2:00pm-3:00pm: After a short break, our afternoons together will begin with an integrative discussion on how daily project assignments, course requirements, and home practices are going, followed by an informative and clinical overview of your morning sadhana in the studio.

TEACHING PRACTICUMS — 3:00pm-3:30pm: After our discussion, students will begin their 1-on-1, 1-on-2, and 1-on-3 teaching practicums, in which they'll be pairing up with each other. These practice teaching practicums are rewarding resources that will assist in developing your personal confidence, which will not only radically affect your teaching abilities, but will also instil greater integrity in how you direct and guide yourself through your own personal practice.

SATSANG — 3:30pm-5:00pm: Practicums will then be followed by our afternoon satsang, which are inspiring talks that engage students into enlightening discussions that all carry the theme of personal success, personal liberation, personal motivation, personal development, and self-initiation. In these satsangs, students will also be learning extensively about pranayama, its roots, and how it can be utilized to ensure your mastery of living.

EVENING SADHANA — 5:00pm-5:30pm: To finish off the day, students will be led through one last 30 minute practice. These practices are designed to mimic each students home practice, but in a format that is guided. The intent of these 30 minute practices is to help assist and correct any challenges, all while revealing just how strong and rewarding a 30 minute practice can be.

In week one, students will be closely examining the fundamentals of breathing, as they examine and enhance the quality and capacity of their respiratory cycle. Through exercises and demonstrations, students will learn how to improve their breathing, as well as how their breath is an essential process that regulates and opens the body & mind.

In week two, students will be learn perceptual management and perceptual inquiry skillsets. These teachings will employ proper use in learning how to analyze, themselves, people, and the world.

In week three, students will be closely examining their ability to learn and the fundamentals of how learning actually occurs within the mind, so that they can refine and strategically enhance their capacity to personally develop and perpetually evolve their comprehension abilities.

In week four, students will be learning about the nature of action and how to refine and perfect the use of their expressive capacities, enhancing how they communicate and move.

With the successful completion of our 500 hour Pranayama Teacher Training Program (full attendance, completion of assignments, practicum classes, and exam submissions), students will be awarded with a Pranayama Sadhana, School of Pranic Studies Certificate of Completion, which reflects their incredible devotion, studies, and commitment to the practice. As a classical school of yoga, we respectfully withdraw from associating with any and all self-appointed and/or regulatory bodies. This includes Yoga Alliance.

Study Material

TRAINING MANUAL: The manual for our teacher training is very unique, in that after each training it is personally revised, rewritten, and extensively added upon by Engel, in order to correctly reflect his personal studies and current understanding of pranayama. As of this training, the manual enters its 11th full revision.

Being an important part of this training, the manual describes, reflects, and details the undocumented and unspoken tradition of pranayama. And due to this, prior to receiving their manual on day 1, students are required to personally sign an agreement waiver that essentially states, only those who complete the entire training are eligible to keep a copy of the teacher training manual. All students will receive their training manual (physical copy) on day 1 and will be required to cover the printing costs ($10).

STUDY MATERIAL: On the 1st day of the training, all students will receive their required text books (2 books) and will be required to cover the printing costs ($10 per book).

PS. It is advised that each student brings a notebook and pen for daily note taking. Also, satsang from each day of the training will be digitally recorded and made available for study. Morning and afternoon practices and practicums will not be recorded.
